Grant Special Access Rights

This practice is useful for motivating contributors, especially in situations where they are not remunerated.

Problem description

Finding ways to motivate contributors is one of the most challenging issues in building a vibrant Collaborative translation community, especially in situations where they are not remunerated for their work.

One way to motivate your most active volunteers, is to show them how much you appreciate and trust them, by granting them special rights on your Collaborative translation platform. For example, by giving them the rights to do the final approval of a translation before it is actually published.

People who are very active in an online community tend to respond well to this sort of "promotion", because it allows them to establish a certain standing in a group of peers that they care about.
